Gokulashtami 2010
By gbhanu on Sep 1, 2010 | In Indian Festivals, India | 1 feedback »

We celebrated the birth of Lord Krishna late in the evening as Krishna was born at midnight. Started off making some sweet poha, thattai and payasam. We love uppu cheedai but did not want to risk making cheedai as it burst in oil last year. We then created a small Kolam and Krishna’s feet welcoming him into our house. The feet continued into our pooja area and you can see Kavya pointing to Kutti Krishna’s feet coming into our house to eat the scrumptous food prepared for him. We decorated the altar with Dahlia and Kanakambaram flowers from my garden.

It was a working day and so had to limit the food items this time. Here is a slightly better view of our pooja area.

Happy Krishna Jayanthi to all!

The Ganesh idol is partly dry and hence looks blotchy but will even out once it is completly dry. I could not wait for it to dry to share this awesome creation with all.
Can you guess whose idol is going to be used in my house for Ganesh Chaturthi this year?

Lady With A Lamp - Handmade card
By gbhanu on Oct 7, 2009 | In Handmade Cards, India | 3 feedbacks »
This is my original drawing of an Indian lady holding a lamp. The lady was painted on watercolor paper, outlined in ink and then attached to a cardstock paper. This challenge required the use of only blue and red colors and hence these are the dominant colors including the use of blue ink for the outline.
Diwali/Deepavali, the festival of lights a major festival of India is on Oct 17/18 this year and this card seems perfect for this occasion.
I made this card for Paperminutes Sketch Challenge 83.
Supplies: Plain cardstock, watercolor paper, water color paints, ink pen and glue
